Impressions · Reach
Impressions and reach
Impressions: the total number of times your ad was shown. Reach: the number of different people who saw it.
Example: Ahmed saw your ad 3 times. That's 3 impressions and 1 reach.
Frequency
Frequency
The average number of times each person saw your ad.
Frequency = Impressions ÷ Reach
Example: 30,000 impressions ÷ 10,000 people = frequency of 3.
My take: When frequency climbs and results drop, that's ad fatigue. People are tired of the same ad. Change the creative, not the targeting.
CTR
Click-through rate
Out of every 100 people who saw the ad, how many clicked it.
CTR = (Clicks ÷ Impressions) × 100
Example: 200 clicks from 20,000 impressions = CTR of 1%.
My take: CTR is the health check for your creative. If it's low, the ad isn't stopping people: change the image or the first 3 seconds of the video.
CR
Conversion rate
Out of every 100 people who landed on your site or page, how many bought or signed up.
CR = (Results ÷ Visitors) × 100
Example: 200 visitors and 6 orders = CR of 3%.
My take: If CTR is good and CR is weak, the problem isn't the ad. It's the page, the price, the offer, or how fast you reply to messages.
ROAS
Return on ad spend
How much revenue each pound of ad spend brought back.
ROAS = Revenue ÷ Ad spend
Example: You spent 5,000 EGP and made 20,000 EGP in sales. ROAS = 4 (or 4x).
My take: A 4x ROAS isn't always profit. With a 20% margin, 20,000 in sales gives you only 4,000 profit, so you lost 1,000. Work out your break-even ROAS before any campaign.
Break-even ROAS
Break-even ROAS
The lowest ROAS you need to avoid losing money.
Break-even ROAS = 1 ÷ Profit margin
Example: 20% margin → you need ROAS above 5 to profit. 50% margin → anything above 2 works.
Try it with your numbers: the free profit calculator works out your break-even point in seconds.
ROI
Return on investment
What you actually earned after all costs, as a percentage of what you spent.
ROI = ((Profit − Cost) ÷ Cost) × 100
Example: You spent 5,000 EGP on ads, and gross profit on the sales (after cost of goods) was 8,000. ROI = 60%.
My take: ROAS is the media buyer's number; ROI is the owner's number. If you want a client's trust, talk to them in ROI.
